MAY 17, 2015

There is so much going on. The last two weeks have found me working on the house, arranging demos and classes for next year, shipping 15 of my new instruments to The Appalachian Center for Craft for a show I am having with my pal Kimberley Winkle, and carving a turtle for the top of a garden vessel for a client. I feel like I make the list in the morning and by the evening it is twice as long. Last weekend I went to the New England Symposium to demo. On Friday I showed the kids at Rochester High in New Hampshire what could be done with a roughing gouge and on Saturday at the symposium I gave a demonstration of how to turn the neck of a guitar on the lathe. It was like old home week. I met up with many old friends and students.

At Home this week I have been at the lathe working I have turned a newel post, some newel caps and am designing some carved newel caps. My young friend Eve came over to learn some carving and did a great job. I am also designing some new instruments. Here are some pictures.
