NOVEMBER 6, 2013

Turning Around Boston ended Thursday at 4:00. My third floor tenant purchased a house and moved out during the week. I saw this as an opportunity to have a display area for our personal work for open studios, so we cleaned the apartment all day Friday and set up our work Friday night.  Saturday morning found us cleaning Sanctuary in preparation for visitors. People started arriving at 11:30 and we talked and shared our work with the public all day. Saturday night we had a party for Sanctuary supporters. Sunday morning it was Open studios all day. Sunday night we both crashed. I spent Monday at home quietly organizing, returning e-mails etc… Tuesday we started back on Sanctuary.

I have really become aware of the preciousness of time. Jenn and I have started processing our experience in the Boston public schools. The conversation has covered so many topics, culture, curriculum, politics, immigration, skill, behavior……… When we figure it out we will write about it.

Friday we received a wonderful gift in the mail. It is a sign for Sanctuary carved by Dianne Thayer. It was put out for Open Studio’s and now we are trying to figure where it will go permanently. It is beautifully done and got many admiring comments over the weekend. Thank you Dianne. The plywood for the work station was donated by Boulter Plywood. Boulter has been very supportive of our ongoing projects and we are very grateful for their support.
