What an interesting month it has been for me. I got home from Guatemala where a family of 6 might be living in a small hut with only room for four beds, to the affluent community of Camden Maine with its historic seaside homes. I have gone from teaching woodworking with only cast off hand tools available, to teaching in a school where students might have a couple of thousand dollars worth of hand tools in their cabinets. I am still processing it all. Today I head home to my own community and all my old friends. The Center For Furniture Craftsmanship has been fun; I have received inspiration and camaraderie from Aled Lewis and his wonderful class, being the guest instructor for the month has been an honor. We explored the possibilities of multiples in woodworking and the student’s projects have turned out great. They will be selling their work at Craft Boston, Next weekend.
